Chevrolet offers the Silverado 2500HD with two V-8 engines. The 6.6-liter gasoline engine is rated at 401 h/p and 464 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. The 6.6-liter turbodiesel engine has 445 h/p and 910 Nm of torque. Gasoline models get a six-speed automatic transmission while diesel models get a 10-speed automatic transmission. The six-speed transmission can still use a couple of gears to stay lower in the rev range as long as the situation calls for it. The car can tow 14,500 pounds in most configurations. The relatively quiet cabin is equally impressive. The independent front suspension and stiffer body smooth out some of the large truck's vibrations but the rear end can wobble when unloaded.
